Metals and organic chemicals have many important uses in everyday products in our homes and gardens, but also have toxic effects from the molecular to the organism to the ecosystem level. Toxic chemicals and other pollutants contaminate our oceans, estuaries, rivers, streams, and lakes as well as air and soil, and do not stop at national borders.
